People in the UK are now finding that an old concept that has been used in many countries in Europe since the 1930's, that of legal plans is the way forward to ensure legal representation in many areas. This growing popularity in Britain is partly due to the number of people and businesses that have seen the huge benefits and increasing numbers of law firms have seen that a great deal of their business can come from that area. The most basic plans are the most popular and are more than enough for the average citizen as they pay their membership premium, a little like an insurance policy; each month or a yearly premium and then receive legal help in many areas. Having a legal plan service can make good sense, but it won't solve all your legal issues as most of these plans focus on preventative legal care, so you can get legal assistance and advice before you start having legal difficulties. Prepaid legal plans also have the benefit of supplying the client with free meetings regarding any legal issues they need to resolve. You can usually call the lawyer on as many different legal issues as you want, and you will receive a free consultation for each question or issue which can be a powerful tool, as you can often get many of your legal questions or issues handled this way. Even 'Last Will and Testaments' are included in these legal plans with the option of yearly updates plus they usually provide for the lawyer to make phone calls and write letters representing your interests. It is surprising just how effective a letter or a phone call from an lawyer is with a dispute with another party, as it will often end there just because they know that a legal representative is now involved. Your lawyer will also look over any letters you have received that require a 'legal eye' as well as any contracts you may be in the process of signing. Additional services like an appearance in court or other matters not covered by the plan will have a fee attached based on an hourly rate but normally this is a discounted amount. There are a variety of legal plans available and the most basic plan is the individual or family plan; many legal service plans also offer business coverage, where they provide basic legal services tailored for a business. Other specialized versions of the legal plans are available, one in particular is for truck drivers and it is worth looking for these plans on your work notice board; they are sometimes free but are usually offered at a discounted rate. One of the restrictions is that of existing complaints or legal issues which are not covered by this type of plan as the whole idea behind them is to stop legal issues from forming in the first place. Situations like this could include a divorce, bankruptcy or other type of lawsuit which would net be covered under the terms and conditions of a legal services plan but in all probability, the hourly rate of your lawyer would be reduced for you. Legal plans are a great way for working class Britains to be able to use legal representation at a fraction of the normal cost they would be expected to pay; this is a way for them to deal with everyday issues that they would not normally be able to afford to pursue. |
