Legal Cover Plans

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

There is nothing new about a legal plan service; in fact they were in Europe back in the thirty’s but they have started to become more commonplace in mainstream America. Many people in America including large and small businesses have seen the advantages of signing up to a service like this as law firms around the country have decided to provide it. The legal plan service works a little like an insurance policy whereby a monthly of yearly fee is paid as a form of membership to a law firm or individual attorney and the member has access to their services.

The concept is quite simple; by providing legal help on issues as they arise, it is hoped that many situations will not progress into full scale law suits and the additional costs involved with them. However, other facilities are included with the plans that are used by individuals and businesses regularly as consultation with your attorney is included. You can usually call the attorney on as many different legal issues as you want, and you will receive a free consultation for each question or issue which can be a powerful tool, as you can often get many of your legal questions or issues handled this way.

Other services are also included in legal plans and normally a free ‘Last Will and Testament’ will be included, with yearly updates and many plans will also write a letter or a make a call on your behalf. This is a powerful tool especially where disputes are with third parties, which can often be cleared up very quickly once the party knows that a lawyer is involved. In addition, you will also have coverage for contract or document review, where your attorney will review documents, such as agreements or sales contracts, and answer any of your questions.

Of course if you require your attorney’s representation in court or another matter that is not included in the legal services plan, an extra hourly fee will be chargeable but you can expect a reduction in this fee. The basic prepaid legal plan normally just covers the person and their family and business versions available will cover issues that are business related only and tailored to that environment. Other specialized versions of the legal plans are available, one in particular is for truck drivers and it is worth looking for these plans on your work notice board; they are sometimes free but are usually offered at a discounted rate.

Like many health plans, legal plans will not normally cover ongoing complaints as they are designed to be a preventative type of service with the lawyer freely available. If you have a major legal issue, such as a law suit, a divorce, or bankruptcy, a legal plan will be of limited assistance, although you will probably get a discount of the hourly rate you would normally pay an attorney. For a regular monthly outlay, an American citizen can have access to his or her own attorney whenever they want to help deal with everyday legal issues that might cause them distress in their lives.

Drivers Personal Injury Insurance

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

These days, depending on the type of daily driving activity you carry out, it is worth considering starting a personal injury protection plan. We all have many responsibilities these days which we cannot dismiss, not to mention looking after our families as well. If you have no family responsibilities then you may decide to arrange personal injury protection (PIP) just for your own benefit. Unfortunately, this can be an expensive insurance policy to have and many families cannot justify the monthly expense when it is usually they who are most at risk.

It is often the case that it was arranged without the full range of cover looked at so may be inappropriate to the needs of the customer. Most US states have already passed laws to ensure people have personal injury and other forms of insurance although the amount of cover is not consistent. The figures for this show massive variations with people living in Florida on requiring one tenth the amount that citizens in Alaska do. Many people take out personal injury protection plans even if they currently live in a state that does not require it by law.

The payouts on this are good with up to eighty percent cover for the insured and anyone that was traveling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. , even for the passengers. Some plans will cover some if not all these aspects and it is worth checking these fully before any additional insurance plans are started. It is quite common for certain aspects like hospital bills and possibly a percentage of lost income to be covered by a family health insurance policy.

If this is the case, then you may need minimal amount of coverage or even none at all. An additional factor to consider is the driving ability and record of the policy holder because this will not only dictate the need for personal injury protection but can affect the overall cost. Fortunately most drivers will probably find themselves covered by their own health insurance policy which will also protect family members that happen to be passengers.

Needless to say, if you find that the cover afforded by the personal injury protection is insufficient for passengers then you will have to top this cover up. After all, it is the driver who is liable for the safety and protection of his or her passengers. Although you may feel fortunate if you reside in a state that does not require personal injury protection by law, that should not stop you from obtaining it for your own peace of mind. Your personal circumstances will dictate just how much insurance you need so the better your health is and the less claims you have made, will help to reduce the policy costs overall. Younger, less experienced drivers often have to pay considerably more owing to their inexperience and probable meager health insurance cover but need to start looking to the future for themselves and their family by taking out as much insurance as they can afford. Whatever your circumstances, you need to research it carefully so that you can rest easy knowing that you and your passengers are safely covered.

Legal Cover Plans

Friday, November 28th, 2008

A legal plan service or membership program, is a concept that has been around for a number of years and as legal plans became commonplace in Europe in the 1930’s, they remain popular and well-known there today. The popularity of legal plans is growing and legal firms are increasing the number of types and levels of membership to individuals and other companies. Legal plans work by providing basic coverage and attorney services for a membership, or a prepaid fee that is usually paid monthly or yearly; by paying the membership fee, you have access to an attorney and their services, which without the plan you would have to pay, in some cases, a substantial fee.

The concept is quite simple; by providing legal help on issues as they arise, it is hoped that many situations will not progress into full scale law suits and the additional costs involved with them. However, other facilities are included with the plans that are used by individuals and businesses regularly as consultation with your attorney is included. There generally isn’t any restriction on the number of times you can contact your attorney and this enables people to obtain what is in essence very low cost legal advice on a wide range of topics.

To add to the already good value, most legal plans also offer a Last Will and Testament service which can be updated yearly; a number of plans also provide letters from the lawyer to be written on your behalf and phone calls as well. If you consider how often a dispute can be cleared up when a lawyer intervenes you can see one of the obvious benefits to this service. It is quite normal for many sales agreements to go unread as the cost of hiring an attorney to look over them can be prohibitive but with a prepaid legal plan, this is just part of the service.

Additional services like an appearance in court or other matters not covered by the plan will have a fee attached based on an hourly rate but normally this is a discounted amount. As time progresses, new plans become available to suit the growing need especially in specialized areas including business as well as the private individual. However there are even more specialized legal plans available, such as one designed just for truck drivers; a great way to join is to see if you workplace offers a plan as an employee benefit package because many do and in some cases, you can join for free or reduced cost.

There are some limitations and prepaid legal services are not designed to solve pre-existing or ongoing legal issues because the focus is on preventative care and access to an attorney for a consultation. If you have a major legal issue, such as a law suit, a divorce, or bankruptcy, a legal plan will be of limited assistance, although you will probably get a discount of the hourly rate you would normally pay an attorney. Legal plans are a great way for ‘middle Americans’ to be able to use legal representation at a fraction of the normal cost they would be expected to pay; this is a way for them to deal with everyday issues that they would not normally be able to afford to pursue.

I like books from ASHGATE PUBLISHING GROUP ,so I’m going to give it a relatively decent rating of 3.5 out of 5. Ultimately it’s your decision whether you want to buy this book or not.
