Legal Cover Plans
As an idea, the legal plan service is a great idea which started out as a concept but used widely in European countries as far back as 1930 and is now gaining ground in the United States. In America, legal plans have also become increasingly popular, as more companies have started to offer a variety of plans so individuals and business have seen their value. While legal plans do not provide full legal coverage, as that would probably be cost prohibitive; once a member pays their monthly or annual premium, they are entitled to a host of legal facilities they might not otherwise be able to afford.
Having a legal plan service can make good sense, but it won’t solve all your legal issues as most of these plans focus on preventative legal care, so you can get legal assistance and advice before you start having legal difficulties. However, other facilities are included with the plans that are used by individuals and businesses regularly as consultation with your attorney is included. This way a client using the legal prepaid service should be able to resolve legal matters that may have been causing concern for sometime and there is not restriction to how many times this can be done.
Even ‘Last Will and Testaments’ are included in these legal plans with the option of yearly updates plus they usually provide for the lawyer to make phone calls and write letters representing your interests. If you consider how often a dispute can be cleared up when a lawyer intervenes you can see one of the obvious benefits to this service. Your attorney will also look over any letters you have received that require a ‘legal eye’ as well as any contracts you may be in the process of signing.
You will only have to pay extra but usually discounted, if you require your lawyer to attend court with you or additional legal help not part of the legal plan. The basic prepaid legal plan normally just covers the person and their family and business versions available will cover issues that are business related only and tailored to that environment. An example of a specialized legal services plan is that provided to the trucking industry and if you are fortunate enough you may find your employer has provided a scheme for employees; and sometimes these are free but generally discounted at the very least.
Some limitations do exist to the cover provided and any lawsuit that is already pre-existing or ongoing will not be covered by the legal services plan as the basis of the service is to try and stop situations escalating to the point where full blown legal representation is necessary. If you have a major legal issue, such as a law suit, a divorce, or bankruptcy, a legal plan will be of limited assistance, although you will probably get a discount of the hourly rate you would normally pay an attorney. A legal plan service is a way for middle class Americans to have the access to attorneys that used to be the province of the wealthy; having a plan is a great way to help keep yourself out of legal trouble with preventative assistance, but it won’t solve all of your legal problems.
